HP consistently releases firmware / software updates that cause some aftermarket (remanufactured or compatible) cartridges to cease working and display a "Supply Problem" message. Newly chipped cartridges or original cartridges will resolve the issue.

Regardless of the printer model do not accept software / firmware updates.

 Disable Automatic Firmware Updates

To turn off automatic updates:

​

1. From the printer display screen or toggle interface, select SETUP

2. Select SERVICE

3. Select LASERJET UPDATE

4. Select MANAGE UPDATES

5. Select CHECK AUTOMATICALLY

6. Select OFF then select HOME to return to the home screen

7. Repeat steps 1-4, and on the update screen, click "Allow Updates"

8. Select "No"

Check with us in the future first before downloading a printer update. Often such updates are useless, and are only released to force you to buy OEM products.
